What to do with your “word of the year”

At the end of the year, you may see people online talking about their "word of the year."

But I never share mine. Here's why?

WHAT’S A “WORD OF THE YEAR”?

Choosing a word of the year is a way to proclaim the energy or experiences you'd like to observe or manifest in the new year.

For example, you may want to feel more love in your life, so your 2024 word of the year might be Love.

WHAT DO YOU DO WITH YOUR "WORD OF THE YEAR"?

Everyone has their own way of working with the word they choose.

You may write your word on a sticky note and post it on your bathroom mirror. You may meditate on the word daily. Or maybe you revisit the word at every New Moon.

All these practices will help keep the energetic vibration of the word alive and this is important.

We've all heard the expressions "words have power" or "the power of words" for a reason.

Words have the power to deplete or raise your vibration.

This is why it's important to pay attention to who you're spending time with, and to consider what kind of media you're consuming. The energy of the words they express impacts you.

Here's what I like to do, and why I never share my word of the year:

I make my word of the year my sign-in password.

For example, whenever I open my computer, I need to type my password. This means that every day, I'm connecting with the energy of my word.

I do the same with the apps I use. Of course, I play with the password format to maintain my online security.

So let's say my word was Trust, my password might be 2024Trust$

THE RESULTS?

I wish I could tell you specific results, but I don't feel safe doing that. Who knows what online accounts I've forgotten to change passwords on (yes, I've signed up for a lot of things in my life 😜).

What I can share is that I've been doing this for about 8 years, and at the end of each year, when I reflect on my passwords, I'm always blown away at how that energy manifested in my life.

If we stick with the Trust example, when I reflect on the previous twelve months, I'll see how often I was asked to trust the Universe but I didn't.

But the most exciting part —the part that outweighs the times I didn't trust— is how often I actually did trust the Universe.

The energy of the word amplifies the more you connect to it, and seeing my password multiple times a day has been the most effective way for me to see this in action.

May this practice serve you as much as it has served me!

If this “word of the year” practice resonated with you, please let me know in the comments and share this post.
